More than Satisfied, Great DealSo where to start? Well let's start with the most important part, the cards.
Now before I elaborate, a few cards I received in this pack, essentially repaid the cost if I sold them. Now, of course this doesn't mean everyone will, but just saying it is very well possible, just as finding a $20 dollar card in a $4 dollar booster pack is.
Overall I received 3 foil cards, a rare, uncommon, and common, the former two both being worth $11 dollars. I only got two mythic rares, but both were useful, and one of them is the last $10 dollar card, (which was Chandra, Pyromaster, the Planeswalker).
Remember, every booster pack has one rare or mythic rare, with a chance for a foil card. Making 2/9 of the guaranteed rares mythics, and 3/9 of those packs had foil cards. Not bad percentage wise.
But like getting lucky and getting cards that paid back the cost, MORE IMPORTANTLY, I got cards that made a great deck. (A Library Shredder Deck if you're...
Exactly what I neededSo after years of being bugged by my friends... I finally gave in. I ordered this and the
Magic the Gathering M14 Core Set 2014 Deck Builder's Toolkit set. The deckbuilder set was exactly what you expect, but that's not why you're reading this.
The fat pack, what's in it?
- 9 2014 Booster Packs and an 80 card land pack
- 2 foldable card boxes (featuring artwork from the set)
- a collector's guide and a learn-to-play insert
- an 80-card land pack
- a "Spindown" life counter (20 sided dice basically, featuring the set symbol)
*Note, that as all the boosters are random, you may or may not get a solid deck out of this box, if it's all you're buying!
Never bought a booster before?
Here's how it works: You get 15(ish) cards. One of them is guaranteed to be a "rare", or a rare "mythic" quality card. How awesome they are, varies. You also get 3 "uncommon"...
Sweet little package. This is a very nice package to get for a new set. You get everything described, plus there is a heavy paper sleeve around it all, under the shrink-wrap, which can be opened up into a poster of the red fire-caster if you want. Everything was well packaged, and there was no damage to anything.
The box is very nice looking, heavy enough to be durable, and small enough for starting collections or just bringing a few decks for casual play to a local hangout. I've purchased about 20 booster packs beyond what came with this pack and it is all still fitting inside the box, but likely won't for much longer. Therefore, I'd estimate the capacity of the box to be about 450 cards (unsleeved).
The 20-sided die/life counter is a nice addition, which I've seen most people using at Friday Night Magic events. The two smaller deck-boxes are appreciated as well, though they are too small to fit cards in sleeves, so I've ended up using them to just have a box of basic lands to...
